Tokyo shopping

Ok i've visited several shopping areas in Tokyo so far, and I am gonna introduce some of them here. Akihabara is a district famous for its many electronic shops. It has also gained fame as a center of the gaming and manga. Hundreds of electronic shops can be found around here sellin' computers, camera, televisions, mobile phones, etc etc.

Tokyo dome is a stadium located in Bunkyo ward. It hosted baseball, basketball, American football games, as well as puroresu (pro-wrestling) matches. Some concerts have been held here too, e.g., by big names like Ayumi Hamasaki, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Guns N Roses, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Billy Joel, Backstreet boys, Avril Lavigne, etc.

It is also part of an entertainment complex known as Tokyo Dome City, which includes an amusement park.

Ginza is a pretty good shopping area. It is Tokyo's most famous upmarket shoppin', dinin', and entertainment district. One square meter of land in the district is worth more than ten million yen (over 100,000 USD), makin' it one of the most expensive real estate in Japan. It is where you can find the infamous $10 cups of coffee, and where virtually every leadin' brand name in fashion and cosmetics has a presence. I did enjoy my shoppin' here.

Harajuku is one of my favorite shoppin' areas. It is the center of Japan's most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles. On every Sunday, many youngsters gather around Harajuku Station and engage in cosplay ("costume play"), dressed up in bizarre costumes to resemble anime characters, punk musicians, etc. Try to spot one in the pics.

The focal point of Harajuku's teenage culture is Takeshita Dori, which is lined by many trendy shops, fashion boutiques, and the prices are reasonable, much cheaper than those you see around shoppings in Ginza.

Shibuya is one of Tokyo's most colorful and busy districts. Most of the area's large department and fashion stores belong to Tokyu or Seibu. Good shoppin' area but of cos things aren't cheap.

Shinjuku station is Japan's busiest railway station. Northeast of the station lies Kabukicho, Japan's largest and wildest red light district. Of cos there are department stores, sunterranean malls around too. There are wide variety of red light establishments for both sexes and sexual orientations. There are men standin' around approaching you guys or gals, try to spot them in the pics. =)
