Taipei Shilin night market

Shilin night market (士林夜市) is one of the largest and most popular night markets in Taipei. It is very crowded even during the weekdays, and it has become a renowned place for good and local foods (e.g. super size sausages, stir-fried squids, chicken cutlet, etc.). It is a few minutes walk away from the Jiantan MRT station on the Tamsui Line (Red line). The market is so huge that I didn't cover the whole place within a night.

Taipei Wufenpu

Taipei Wufenpu (五分埔) is one of my favorite shoppings in Taipei. It is near to the Houshanpi MRT station (blue line), about 5 minutes walk away, on the North of Xinyi District. It comprises hundreds of wholesale shops selling clothes and shoes at very reasonable prices. However, note that it is not a night market, not much food there and shops start to close from 11pm, with some at 12am. So be there earlier.

 This beef noodle is really good, highly recommended. The stall is located outside the temple, it is a rather huge and prominent, so you won't miss it.

Porter International bag for birthday

I got a very beautiful Porter bag from Ade for my birthday this year, it costs about S$230. Everyone knows I am a big fan of Porter. Thank you so much.

Gardens by the bay

Went Gardens by the bay (Singapore) with the white and the pink, together with mum. A very beautiful place.

Sauna iPhone

I brought my iPhone with me to the sauna, trying to pamper it for a moment. However it was found dead right after. Probably the moisture in the hot sauna has seeped into the phone and killed it. The phone left me on 8th July. =(

Misappropriating church funds

Five senior members of City Harvest Church (one of Singapore's largest and most popular churches) were charged in court yesterday for misappropriating church funds, involving over S$50 million in total. The church had began to prosper on donations from members who were encouraged to set aside a tenth of their income to the church every month. Bryan and I had always been chatting about this few years ago, now it came true. The church founder's wife and her son are staying in a multi-million 29,000 sq ft estate in Hollywood Hills, with a swimming pool and space for 11 cars, with famous neighbors in area like Nicky Hilton, Amercia Ferrera, and Leona Lewis. No comment how she got her money from. But 1 comment, please help to donate, as much as you can ok? The more you give, the more you (or maybe she) receive. Save the whatever!!!.

National Road Cycling Championships 2012

I was at the National Road Cycling Championships 2012 in Singapore yesterday (24 June 2012). People from all around the world were competing against one another for the championships. I really love to see many cool cyclists and bikes at the event. There were quite some ladies too, surprisingly fast despite the hot weather.

Grandma passed away

My paternal grandma passed away on 1st June 2012. RIP grandma.

Grandma (age 87) is a christian for more than 50 years, and she told me at the hospital few days ago that her happiest moments in her life were the times where she sang at the church. She said people were questioning whether she was a singer when she was young, probably because she sang loudly and she enjoyed herself so much. She reminded the family that they must remember to bring her bible along at her wake/funeral. The bible is really old and moldy, probably more than 30-40 or more years old. =)

I am quite disappointed tat Sis didn't attend the wake/funeral at all. Lot of excuses, foreign friends came to Singapore, husband's brother is getting married (not auspicious), etc etc. There are more excuses than these but i don't wanna talk abt it for goodness sake. Hmmm... i don't know how come people can be quite heartless at times, or maybe I am too stubborn?

Grandma is a very nice and kind person. At the hospital few days ago, she apologized to us tat she couldn't serve us drinks as she couldn't move, told us not to come and visit her if we were busy, etc. She said she didn't blame the doctor who operated her eyes 2 years ago. It was a failure and she became totally blind from then. She said the doctor was very young and it failed because the cuts were too deep which damaged her vein(s) somehow. She said she will be able to see soon (after death I guess tats wat she meant).

Restaurant waiter

Last week I was helping out at the restaurant for several days, after work and during weekend as mum said not enough staff so I became a waiter (free labor). =) Quite tired but fun as some of the aunties (customers) were really nice, and they said I look handsome (actually they were just trying to console me). Business was so so, not very good. Today I heard from mum that when she wasn't around, a man conned my bro-in-law and the other staff $70, claiming that he was my mum's friend and needed to borrow that money for a day. AND he and the rest of the staff really loaned (gave) the money to him. Mum was so pissed, she exclaimed "How come got people so naive and stupid, like that also believe!?!??!!!" HaHaaahahaaa. Funny.

Future Punggol

In future Punggol (Singapore) will be a very beautiful place. Have ya been to the Punggol waterway? I cycled there several times, really cool. In future (abt 3 years from now) it will have a huge shopping about 3 times the size of Wisma Atria, offering 4 levels of entertainments, alfresco dinings and shoppings. It is also known as the very First Eco town in Singapore. People like me who like outdoor activities (e.g. jog, cycle, watersports) will be tempted to live there, a place in paradise... Can I get a penthouse there??? =)

Fall of Singapore (Anniversary)

Today is Total Defense Day of Singapore. 70 years ago (15 Feb 1942) of today the Japanese troop broke through the very last line of defense and the British and Allied forces surrendered to the Japanese. It was marked the "worst disaster" and "largest capitulation" in British history.

Buying my own property

As some of you may already know that I've recently shifted to the city area with my family as mum has rented out our house in the east. Our current place is ok, its convenience but no matter what its still not my own house. FINALLY I am buying my very 1st property... and it's a penthouse. It's beautiful but it's rather expensive.... and I gotta pay very soon (few days time). Mum offered to help me, but I guess (maybe) I can still afford it with a bit of struggling to make ends meet every month. =P

What I love about penthouse.
1) Huge enough for my future wife, children, and friends
2) I can even suntan at my own house.

Auntie Jen left us today

Auntie Jen left us less than an hour ago today. She was fighting cancer for years. I feel really really sad as she is one of the nicest aunts I have. Why do many of the people tat i like jus left me one by one?

4th November

Sorry for "MIAing" for quite a while. I'm good, jus too lazy sometimes to blog here. What am I busy with? Hmm... last week was busy preparing for an exhibition, and preparing for a talk (as an invited speaker) in NTU. Mum was interested in a house and i had to accompany her to meet the agent and the owner several times, and maybe this weekend too. House is getting bigger and bigger, but people in the house are getting lesser and lesser. Sister has moved out, I've not seen her for quite a while too.

The coming Monday is a public holiday, I hereby wish everyone of you happy and healthy, enjoy the holiday.
