Tyrell FSX 2013

I own a Tyrell titanium bike PK1. I customized it with Shimano Ultegra components and I really love this bike which is just so good on the road, its silent, smooth (riding), fast and light. I'm looking for a foldie lately which I considered Dahon dash (out of stock) and Tyrell FX. However, I realised that there is a new "powerful" serie coming up soon in 2013, the Tyrell FSX (foldable). It is fixed with the SRAM Force components and the Ultremo ZX wheels, really high-end. Ultremo ZX is really light and fast (150psi). I heard that there is also an improvement on the fork which is lighter than my current Tyrell fork. The frame is really beautiful and part of the cables are now hidden in the frame in this new serie, wow... impressive!!! The price is not gonna be cheap for sure as I can see that the components and set up are even higher end than my current titanium bike at home. I expect it to be easily above S$3700 or even S$4000 up. Hmmm... I am loving this, but I hope that they have the bike and rims in red. Red is beautiful on this bike!!!

KTV session with ex colleagues

I am very happy to meet up with some of my ex colleagues during the weekend. I don't really visit ktv if you know me, I am quite outdated with songs and I always have problem following up with the lyrics. I used to play my own songs so I could sing at my own path comfortably. But my these friends are really good singers, they were so entertaining during the ktv session, fun to listen to them. I miss these people, YanFang, ZhangZhang, and Yilin. Hope to see them again soon.

Dahon dash 2013

 The new Dahon dash P8 2013 which comes with 8 speed, one size only, and about 10.9kg in weight. It will be out for sales in Japan, not sure about other countries. There are three colors for this model, the other two colors are red and blue (not exactly called red and blue but something similar). I personally don't really like the colors combination, e.g. the white mixed with the brown and green. I will change most of the parts if I bought it, e.g. the saddle, handle grip, wheel tyres and rims, etc. There is also a dahon dash X20 2013, white color, 20 speed, 8.7kg in weight, two sizes M and L, which is a more expensive model.

SMP Poster judging

I was invited to be one of the judges for this year SMP projects judging held in Singapore poly. Schools (JCs, Secondary) around Singapore were involved where students presented their research work with demos and posters. My two students (picture as below) from Victoria School were there too to present their work. There were many interesting projects presented and I had a hard time judging. Good day!

Phototaking with Photographer Arik Chan

Today I went phototaking with three photographers, they are very professional, with their equipments and bags. I was trying to learn something from them, but of course I am a noob when come to phototaking and camera stuff. Arik Chan (the 1st picture) is a photographer, won many competitions, with many years of phototaking experience. Taipei's bicycle shops (Neihu)

I always wanna buy a bike (bicycle) in Taiwan as many good bike brands are manufactured in Taiwan, but where to buy? I have been asking and searching around for the answer, where to buy a foldable bike (e.g. dahon) in Taipei. Heard that Neihu is a bicyle district. But remember not to stop at Neihu MRT station, it is quite a distance away from the bike shops. Stop at Ganggian instead. There are 3 bike shops so far I have visited there, about 5-20 minutes walk for each. However, only Giant is selling dahon bikes, e.g. MU SL, speed P8 models, etc. They do not carry the latest models, e.g. vector and dash series, I was so disappointed. I asked the staff why and they said that Dahon is not so popular anymore in Taipei, and they introduced me some other brands (probably taiwanese brands).

 Selling some dahon (older models), parts like Shimano Ultegra are sold there too. Very friendly staff (Michael, manager of the shop) served me. One good thing about the shop is that when you buy a bike here, e.g. if you do not like the crank of the bike, you can trade that in and get the one you want (e.g. change the crank to Ultegra brand).

 Another shop called CyclePal, selling brands like Kuwahara. I don't see any foldable bikes. Very dim inside and noone served me.

 Another bike shop which I was not able to read the name. They sell several small bikes (20'' wheels), but no dahon brand. Staff wasn't very friendly, he answered "We don't sell dahon anymore, not popular now. Singapore has no dahon? Just get it there!!"

Taipei Tamsui

Taipei Tamsui's fisherman's wharf (淡水漁人碼頭) is a very scenic spot in Tamsui distinct, very near to the Tamsui MRT station (last station of Tamsui line). The wharf is well-known by its beautiful sunset, waterfront promenade, and local eateries. The streets are lined with shops selling stuff like iron eggs, toys, fishballs, milk tea, jewellery and accessories, lot of souvenirs, etc. I bought quite some food as souvenirs back for friends.

 You can even rent a bike at this shop, nearby to the fisherman's wharf.

Sushi at very reasonable price, about 10-15 minutes away from the MRT.
