Dragonboat trainin' n meetin' Shereen n Florence

Today dragonboat trainin' was fun although we didn't get into the water as it was rainin' quite badly. I wanna squeeze into the top 10 of Anthony's team...so i gotta keep even more fitter. Met up wif Shereen n Florence after for sushi n haagen dazs ice-cream. Enjoyed myself!



Yesterday Karaoke was fun too with Jiahui, Shereen, Florence, Sharon, May, Joel, Albert, Alvin, etc... n we ended ard 2.30am.

Missing Bangkok

I've left my footprints in many parts of the world (France, USA, Hongkong, Brunei, Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, ...), nevertheless i had never fallen in love wif a place as much as Bangkok. Jus as many of my friends (guys and gals) asserted "waking up to leave bangkok was harder than I'd anticipated." I personally love the culture, the nice and friendly people, the shoppings, the foods, just everythin' tat i could think of. The only deficit is the language tat i can't speak and not many of them really understand English.

I checked out the condominiums there and was pretty surprised tat the prices were very reasonable, less than S$200k Singapore dollar for a Platinum condo apartment, which ya can bearly get a HDB flat in Singapore or a small apartment in Sydney Australia with this price. I am quite tempted to get a condo apartment in Bangkok...if mum allows. :)

Right in the city of Bangkok, i heard the voice of Kelly Clarkson comin' fr the huge LCD screen...which again blew me away....in the beautiful city with a beautiful voice....i can never feel better than this!!

Bangkok trip

My bangkok trip was magnificent. I jus luv this place so much, the non-stressful environment, the affable people, the foods...etc.!! Bought a couple of shirts tat i really like...and the prices were jus amazingly cheap...not more than S$16 for each.
Chongyan is a buddhist and taught me how to pray to the 4-face buddha.

We also went to the Chinatown district which is one of the oldest areas of bangkok as chinese merchants were originally moved to this area in the early 1780s when bangkok was founded.


I had the shark's fins and birds' nesks which mum recommended me to try...anyway i didn't quite like it.

and we went to the backpacker street i think at Kao San.

Chatuchak weekend market is the largest market in Thailand and largest of the world. It is pretty much the undisputed king of all markets.

The grand palace is a complex of buildings which served as the official residence of the king of Thailand fr 18th-20th century. However i wasn't allow to go in as my outfit was too informal as shown below. :P


We went Route 66 almost every nite...i luv the hip hip n R&B as Chongyan claimed tat yeah we are always the best rappers in town...oh yeah baby!!

Our two lovely thai friends in Bangkok. They work in Singapore. They r really really nice people n took care of us there so we wun get cheated by the locals, e.g. they checked on our bills after our meals.


Jaslin asked me to help her get the shrimp chips with pork floss and i found it in Chinatown. I couldn't get any 6-mth old baby dress for Ade as i couldn't see much around, and those tat i saw were either too ex (over S$30) or made with materials/fabrics tat i didn't like. I also got a souvenir for Xian.

CVPR international conference paper was rejected

Today i got the news tat my CVPR international conference paper was rejected. I m really really upset n devastated as this is the top conference tat i m lookin' forward 2 get in. I dunno wat to do, i feel like quitin'. I m very tired...really glad 2 see kaixian online again but too ashamed 2 talk 2 her. She'll be very disappointed if she knows she has such a failure friend.

Tirin' day at NTU Openhouse

Reached sch at 8.45am. There were many exhibits tat worth a look. Many of us were askin' for votes fr the visitors. I reckon we did get ard 40 votes. The result is not yet out n the exhibit wif the highest nos of vote will get $2000, followed by $1000 for the 1st runner-up. Wif no doubt the gals were really excellent in pullin' votes n i guess we were far fr them. I'll be happy if we got the 2nd runner-up!! :)

Preparation 4 NTU openhse!

Was busy preparin' for the NTU Openhouse tomorrow. Prof Yow (one of our nicest professors ard) called my mobile n explained 2 me abt tmr...wat to bring, the attire...etc. I gotta be in sch fr 9am-7pm tmr bein' part of the team. :) I met up Chongyan for sushi dinner n IT show albeit i hadn't finished my work yet.

They r not my friends....i dunno them...they jus happened 2 be there posin'.

This tiny little notebook is rather cool...less than a kg...CY was so tempted to buy.

This machine reminded me of "the time machine". But this simulates the movement of a racin' car...swingin' ya left n right. Give it a try if ya r there this weekend.

Some events 2 look out for! (in Singapore)

There r some upcomin' events 2 look out for . The 1st is the NTU open house 2008 which falls on this comin' Sat, 8 March. I'll be involved as one of the representatives demostratin' some of the projects. I reckon most of the audiences wld be the JC and Poly students, n perhaps some teachers n parents as well. Feel free to drop by, its open to public.


The 2nd event tat i m interested in is the Temasek design show at Temasek convention centre in Temasek poly. It falls on next Thur, 13 (11am-9pm) to 15 (9am-3pm) March. Its also open to public n i m thinkin' of visitin' 2.


The 3rd event i m lookin' out for is this comin' marathon, called the Adidas Sundown marathon 2008 which falls on 31st May. The venue (start n end point) is at Changi point. There r some categories: Ultra-marathon 84km (start time at 8pm), marathon 42km (start time at 12am), corporate challenge relay (10.5km x 4 runners), and team challenge relay (10.5km x 4 runners), start time at 8.30pm. The fee is abt $140 for ultra-marathon, $75 for marathon, and $300 for team and corporate entry. Of cos payin' tat amt, there r some race packs for the participant, adidas adizero runnin' top, visor, finisher medal (provided ya cld finish), finisher cert, adidas finisher tee...etc.


There's another run few days after the Sundown marathon, which is the Saucony 100PLUS Passion run 2008. It is held at East Coast park (Angsana Green) on 8 June 2008 from 6.30am to 12pm. The categories r 15km, 10km and 5km. Participant will receive PA Passion card, two unique gifts, 1 lucky draw ticket, event tee worth $26.90, finisher medal and cert. The fee is abt $18. The 1st to come bk (10 and 15km) will get $1000, 1oth to 2nd places will get $100-$750.


Another marathon to look out for is the Lion City marathon which falls on the 29 June 2008. There are a few categories as well, 50km ultra marathon, full marathon (42km), half marathon (21.5km), 2km/5km/10km run team (6-8 participants), kids marathon (below 13) 1km. Start times 4am and 6am (diff waves of start times). The fees r not out yet. There will be a post race party at Bugis junction after the run.

A new era for feature films in Singapore

A new era for feature films in Singapore was marked yesterday bcos of the released of Singapore's 1st English-based full feature film "The Leap Years". Frankly speakin' i do not know any of the actor/actress in the film as i m totally outdated when come 2 Singapore's film, esp i wasn't in Singapore for long. But i do luv the music which i mentioned in my earlier blog entry.

Quite some work to do this weekend keepin' me chaotic n busy. However i went to the gym for awhile, didn't go swimmin' as the sun was on strike throughout the afternoon...hamperin' me fr gettin' into the pool. I still need some time 2 practise on the piano sheet tat Chris sent me. I gotta ans him by tmr if i wanna be involved in the performance, which the rehearsal will start next week...throughout the mth. This mornin' Jaslin described me as "sexy"....hahaaa. I told her tat wasn't a compliment as sexy is more used on a lady!!! :P hilarious!!!

The 2nd season of the amazin' race asia is officially over. For those who didn't watch...yeah Singapore team won. I m still waitin' for a suitable partner 2 join me for the 3rd season. :P He/she must be able to overcome all my deficits. Here r some pics of their final gatherin'.

I miss...

Tats lotsa work to be done...n i m kinda overwhelmed. Feel like givin' up, i miss my Aussie buddies, i miss flyin' a viper, i miss "beaching", i miss the "no-stress" carefree weekends....etc. To deal wif stress, i go swimmin', tannin', joggin', gym...at least once a week (usually weekend). This evenin' i'm meetin' up wif Bryan 4 basketball. I luv the tanned n fit me...i m back in shape again!! :) Bryan explained tat if ya wanna be a doctor...life is gonna be stressful. If ya jus work in an office 8-5, ya'd enjoy more.

Chris called me today n asked if i'd like to perform wif ZL in the comin' event, one of my favorite songs "Sorry seems to be the hardest word". Hmm...will see!

Gd workout today!

Been rather busy lately...which means less bloggin'...but still wanna update smthin' 2 my blog as i mentioned b4 this blog is like my diary. 20 or 50 yrs down the road i cld still read abt everythin' tat happened in the past. N maybe it cld be a legacy to my children n grandchildren too. :P

Had a long 2 hrs meetin' with supervisor Prof Yow yesterday....abt the rebuttal of one of our conf papers. Met up Bryan at Bugis where he passed me the map of Bangkok with some highlighted locations (shoppin', temples, etc.) tat i should visit. Thank ya very much bloke!

Today went 4 a swim at Tampines swimmin' complex n then met up wif Joel in the gym. We haf similar sense of humor n think along the same line. E.g., runnin' to Tampines fr our place is sooo... not far, n finishin' a whole 1 litre of fruit juice within mins is jus so cool!! Moreover we like gym n joggin'. Now i know why we r buddies. :P

Long run with Joel

Met up Joel today for a long run, fr Pasir ris to Tampines n back Pasir ris... i reckon abt 5km. He was kinda out of breath after abt 3km. My stamina is quite gd lately.... i wasn't out of breath at all even when i reached the finishin' stop. Hadn't met up wif him for quite awhile so we chatted durin' our dinner. I told him abt my Bangkok trip in March n he was like kept remindin' me to bring more condoms... wat kinda buddy is this?? :P:P

Sports day & sorry Selina

Went swimmin' n alittle of suntannin' at Tampines wif Xing today. We tried the spicy Mala beef (left) n chicken (right) noodles after.... HOT... for me but not Xing. We hangout at starbucks 4 awhile b4 headin' back home. Meetin' Joel 4 runnin' tmr.


Had a chat wif Selina (my gd/mutual friend) online, ard 1am. I feel so sorry tat i ever hurt her by not replyin' some of her smses. I m such a failure when come to friends n relationships, i m sorry.

Amazing race Asia season 2 episode 13

I was bewildered n disheartened when i heard the news tat Marc n Rovilson lost in the Amazing race Asia 2, they went in 3rd. Mum jeered at me for my inanity... she uttered "Ya r not gettin' a single cent even if they won...why r ya so upset?". But they were jus too gd to lose. They won 8 out of 11 legs in the race... tell me which teams ever in amazing race won 8 legs?? Its jus wasn't their day in the final leg!! But still they r the legends. Amazing race Asia 2 ep 13... i'm not gonna watch it! To me Marc n Rovilson r the winners!! :)

Comin' to face the reality, Singaporeans Collin and Adrian won the race n bringin' home US$100,000...congratulation n yes they r both very nice people i gotta agree.

Valentine's day

Oh well... if ya are feelin' lonely, Valentine's day is just a painful reminder of how alone ya feel. Ya see happy couples walk by and ya'd be eaten up by jealousy and anger. Everywhere there are flowers, hearts, cupids n pictures of romantic couples exchangin' deep and meaningful glances in this phenomenal day. But to those lonely souls out there, ya are not alone... i'm single too. :)

Way back into love

Chinese New Year

Woke up real early n went a couple of places wif family. We went to my paternal grandma's hse. The relatives n grandma were jolly 2 see us... n i luv 2 see them 2. Since i came bk Singapore 2 years ago, i get 2 see them like jus once a year. Mum n Sis who tried their cookin' commented tat the foods were terrible. I seriously reckon tat my family includin' myself r very fussy abt foods... which may not be 2 gd. I saw the rest of the ppl enjoyin' the foods beside my family, n i didn't try. I hope grandma's eyes will get better... really saddenin' 2 see her eyesight gettin' fr bad 2 worse. We went Aunt's hse rite after. Aunt isn't any better. She's havin' a lump/tumour on one of her breasts n need 2 go 4 operation next week. She's really worried n been losin' her appetite lately. Tat reminds me of Xian n i hope she's thoroughly fine now. We went other places 2, on n on... N 4 tmr lotsa guests will come 2 our place.

Near the evenin' Xue called me 2 get 2 her place. I didn't know i was the only friend she invited n i felt kinda awkward as her family n relatives assumed i was her boyfriend. Yeah but her aunties n uncles (dunno which cousins) were really friendly ppl n chatted wif me causally n unceremoniously. Xue was beautiful today, dressed up like a little princess. :) I like her char 2, nice decent gal who never flirt or havin' affair wif anyone. :P I read Ming's site n i was really disappointed 2 see the comments left by some mushy n slushy guys (her dates). E.g., "Out of whoever I have in the past, love you the most...", "let us start over again...", "Wish tat this is a forever affair... ", "Wanna say I LOVE YOU (no. 1154) Mauckiez dearie" etc etc. How cld she stand all these??? But i reckon she likes it. Anyway its none of my biz. :)

Finally booked flight 2 Bangkok!

Been wantin' 2 go Bangkok 4 long n finally i m goin' next mth. I've jus booked the flights today. Bryan was so excited when he heard abt me goin' Bangkok... which is his favorite destination. :) He overwhelmed me wif places of interest 2 go, hotel, spa, massage, pub, pretty thai gals etc. Thank mate!! :P I still haf 2 book flight 2 UK.

Chinese new year is comin' this Thur (tmr in fact). Went supermarket 2 haf our final shoppin' in the evenin', wif mum. I bought quite alot of stuffs 4 myself regardless of the price rise....e.g., my avocadoes fr $2.99 to $3.15 per pair. Mum commented tat i gotta find a wife who knows how 2 save $$... hahaa. Hmm... come 2 think of it, its quite true 2, since young i've not had any worries abt $$ n bein' 2 pampered by family. :) Jus for fruits n milk alone i spent like $200+ a month now. Ok i also gotta save up more $$. I wan my future wife n i to live a happy, luxurious, prodigal, debauched, hassle-free n comfortable life. :P Wow!!

I wan a getaway holiday

I wanna haf a getaway holiday asap..., whichever places... Bangkok, Koh Samui, Batam resort, Cebu Philippines. I was so excited n energized when talkin' abt tat wif Bryan n Ming. N then i was more engrossed when we chatted abt spa n therapy, massage, resort... etc... Arhh... can't wait anymore!! Really happy chattin' wif Ming today, it was like before when i first know her... the friendly n hilarious her who cheered me up alot.

Went to the gym but i cldn't do much today. My arm hurts. :( When can i do pull-ups again!?!?! Anyway hope it wun rain tmr... i wanna go swimmin'.

Amazing race asia 2 and Edison Chen's sex scandals

I m addicted to this reality show "Amazin' race Asia 2". This is one of the best series i've seen so far. These two teams (Collin and Adrian; Marc and Rovilson) r really cool n kinda blew me away acutely.

Yeah although they've pretty faces, they were not as fast as the 4 guys "up" there in the races. However, i like the attitudes of them durin' the races. They always smile no matter in gd or bad situations. I saw lotsa teams argued n quarrelled among themselves in the races, but ya cld never see this team quarrel, yeah not at all. I reckon one shouldn't blame yr partner when smthin' goes wrong... jus calm down n think of how to solve the problem instead of wastin' time fightin' among yrself.

Recently in the newspapers i saw this Edison Chen's sex scandals n heard abt it too fr some friends. Frankly speakin' i had no idea who Edison Chen & Gillian Chung were until this malicious gossip. I kinda pity them n i m not sure if those photos r "real". Its not too difficult to make these kinda pics 4 any gd photo editors. Many of the ppl/bloggers are beginnin' to discuss/write abt this... chatterin' n jeerin' abt the hair smwhere, their parts smwhere, etc, etc. Come on... it may not be real, dun be fooled. The two victims must be feelin' really terrible now, give them a break.

One of my buddies Gaetan is here in Singapore today. He was takin' the new A380 superjumbo jet here... wow wow!! The new terminal 3 was really quiet... cldn't see much ppl around.

I waited 4 him outside the gate in T3 n he crept out after quite a while... this slow bloke!

Was really crowded in Chinatown n we cldn't find anythin' we cld buy there... but we kinda like the Chinese new year atmosphere ard.

Late nite calls

Been sleepin' quite late lately, doin' work. I'm really pleased today tat i've derived an algorithm (wif lotsa mathematical formulas) to rapidly increase the efficiency of our system, which will be used for demos/presentations. Gaetan will be visitin' Singapore tmr (or today since its abt 2am now)... so i gonna sleep soon.

Been receivin' late nite calls lately fr Selina... the nite b4 at 4am and tonite at 1.25am in the mornin'. I didn't sound very happy on the phone but i didn't yell at her or so. Maybe she took it as a surprise 4 me but i m not too used to receivin' late nite calls or chattin' at nite. :) N i found out later tat the reason she called was jus to say gdnite... weird gal. :P Anyway thanks 4 callin'... hmmm... but i prefer a gdnite sms next time. :)
